ROR Correction in Telangana: Window Closed 13 April 2026

Years of Dharani migration left names misspelled, extents wrong and surveys missing. The RoR Act gave one year to fix them at the Tahsildar level, and that window closed on 13 April 2026. Here is what could be corrected, how filing worked, and what to do about an error now.

What ROR correction covers in Telangana

Definition

ROR correction is the statutory process for fixing errors in the Record of Rights carried over from the Dharani era: misspelled names, wrong extents, missing survey numbers and misclassifications. Filed at the Tahsildar, with a one-year window that ended on 13 April 2026.

The Act's bargain was simple: one clean year to challenge and repair the migrated record, after which entries attain finality and casual correction closes. That year ended on 13 April 2026.

Correctable errors fall in four buckets: identity (name spellings, father's name), quantity (extent mismatches), location (missing or wrong survey and LPM linkages), and character (wet shown as dry, agricultural shown otherwise). Ownership disputes are not corrections; those go to civil remedies.

Authority sits with the Tahsildar now, with appeals to the RDO and Collector. Decisions are time-bound, which is why filed cases move faster than the old system ever did.

Deadline warning: The window has closed. A record error that was not corrected in time now goes up the appeal ladder, so check your Pahani before any sale or loan.

How to file ROR correction on Bhu Bharati

The one-year window has closed. This is how filing worked, and the same proof is what to gather before any appeal. Paper wins these cases.

Filing at the Tahsildar

1
Pull the current record
Download the Pahani and 1B and mark exactly which entries are wrong.
Precision here shapes the whole case.
2
Assemble proof
Old pahanis, the sale deed, passbook, Aadhaar and survey records that show the correct position.
The older and more official the paper, the stronger the case.
3
File and take acknowledgment
Submit the correction application with proof at the Tahsildar office and keep the numbered acknowledgment.
That number is your tracking key.
4
Attend and verify
Appear if called, answer the enquiry, then pull the corrected record and check every character.
Confirm the fix did not introduce a new error.
3

ROR correction documents: errors and winning proof

Match your error to the documents that typically decide it.

Error Winning proof Watch out
Name misspelledAadhaar, passbook, old PahaniFix must match the deed spelling too
Extent wrongSale deed, survey sketch, old recordsNeighbouring claims can surface
Survey number missingOld Pahani, FMB, resurvey LPM dataOften an LPM linkage issue, not loss
Wrong classificationOld Pahani, revenue recordsAffects value and conversion rights
Deceased still on recordThis is mutation, not correctionFile succession at the Tahsildar instead
Good sign: A corrected record verified character by character, backed by proof that predates Dharani. If you missed the window, gather the same proof before you appeal.

Common ROR correction issues, and the fix

Correction cases fail for process reasons more than merit. Avoid these four.

Filed as the wrong case type
Succession and disputes get filed as corrections and bounce.
Fix: inheritance goes to mutation; ownership contests go to civil remedies.
Thin proof
An application that just asserts the right spelling goes nowhere.
Fix: attach old pahanis and deeds; assertions without paper lose.
Missed hearing
Non-appearance lets the case lapse quietly.
Fix: track the application number and attend every date.
Fix introduces a new error
The corrected record misspells something else.
Fix: verify the fresh record immediately; now that the window has closed, a fix goes through an appeal.

What the closed ROR correction deadline means

After 13 April 2026, the record you have is presumed the record that is right.

⚠
Now it is an uphill appeal
Loans, sales and registrations will run against the record as it stands, and unwinding an error means an appeal, not a Tahsildar form.
🏦
It can kill the deal or the loan
For sellers, an uncorrected record can kill a deal at scrutiny; for buyers, it can kill the loan.
🔍
Free to check, costly to ignore
If you hold Telangana land and have not pulled the record since the migration, do it this week. The check is free; discovering the error after finality is not.
Red flag: Anyone advising you to leave a known record error for after the deal is trading your legal position for their convenience. Fix or appeal first, transact second.

Frequently asked questions

What was the ROR correction deadline?
One year from the Act's commencement on 14 April 2025, closing 13 April 2026. That window has now closed: entries attain finality and casual correction has ended.
Who decides correction cases?
The Tahsildar, with appeals to the RDO and Collector. The old escalation to the Collector for routine fixes is gone.
What can be corrected?
Name spellings, extents, missing survey or LPM linkages and misclassification. Ownership disputes and succession are separate processes.
What documents should I attach?
Old pahanis, the registered deed, passbook, Aadhaar and survey records showing the correct position. Old official paper wins cases.
What happens after the deadline?
The finality clause applies. Corrections now travel the appeal ladder, RDO then Collector, with a heavier burden, taking longer and costing more.
Can I still sell with a pending correction?
Technically possible, practically painful. Mismatched records stall registration and loans, so correct first, transact second.
