Land area measurement in Uttarakhand follows GoRT-defined standards. Standard metric units — Acre, Hectare, and Are — are used in official Khatauni records and property registration.
Uttarakhand land records use standard metric units — Acre, Hectare, Are, and Square Metre — as defined in the GoRT.
In Uttarakhand, the Record of Rights is called Khatauni. It is maintained in Hindi.
An Are is a metric sub-unit of hectare, equal to 100 square metres. 100 Ares make 1 Hectare.
The legal framework includes: United Provinces Tenancy Act, 1939, Uttar Pradesh Land Revenue Act, 1901, Uttar Pradesh Zamindari Abolition & Land Reforms Act, 1950.
