What is the difference between khesra and khatiyan?

The khesra is the plot number — a unique identifier for each field. The khatiyan is the record of rights that lists ownership, area, and shares for that plot. The khesra identifies the field; the khatiyan contains the ownership details.

Can I find land records by searching the owner's name?

Yes. On Bihar Bhumi, you can search by owner name and get all khesra numbers and khatiyan records linked to that person in the selected village or block.

Are online records from Bihar Bhumi legally valid?

Online records are reference documents. For registration, loans, or court cases, you must obtain a certified copy (satyapit nakal) from the Circle office or sub-divisional office. Online copies alone are not sufficient for legal transactions.
