Survey Numbers in Kerala

Overview

Kerala's land records use two survey identifiers: the old survey number and the new resurvey number. They correspond 1:1, but if you have an old document, you need the resurvey number to look up modern government records. Both are recorded in your 7/12 (Pattayachi) extract — Kerala's foundational land document.

One plot, many names — what ‘survey number’ means here

Survey Number (Old)

The original parcel identifier from pre-resurvey records. Recorded in older deeds and 7/12 extracts. Often called just 'survey number.'

Resurvey Number (New)

The updated parcel identifier from the resurvey. Used in modern government portals and current 7/12 extracts. Must use this to search e-Rekha or Ente Bhoomi.

7/12 (Pattayachi) Extract

Kerala's record of rights — shows ownership, extent, boundaries, resurvey number, and encumbrances. The legal foundation.

Thandaper Account

Village-level register that groups land by owner. Useful for understanding multiple parcels under one name.

e-Rekha vs Ente Bhoomi

Both portals access the same official records — e-Rekha for documents, Ente Bhoomi for interactive mapping. One search works on both.
