What is the Jamabandi?

It's Punjab's annual revenue register. It records who owns which Khasra (field) in a village for that year. It's updated yearly and is the source for Tatima (ownership certificates).

How do I find my Khasra number?

If you have a deed or property document, the Khasra number is usually written on it. Or, search the PLRS Jamabandi portal by village name and your name — it will show all Khasra numbers you own.

It's a family/owner group number. If you own multiple Khasra numbers in one village, they share the same Khewat. It helps cross-check that all your land is accounted for.

Is the Tatima proof of ownership?

Yes. The Tatima is your official ownership certificate for a Khasra in that revenue year. It's extracted from the Jamabandi and signed by the revenue department.

Are PLRS records free?

Yes. All Jamabandi, Khasra maps, and Tatima records are free from PLRS (jamabandi.punjab.gov.in). Do not pay middlemen for extracts.

Khasra Number

The unique parcel identifier in the Jamabandi. Corresponds to a specific field on the ground. This is what you need to look up online.

Khewat

A group number assigned to a family or individual showing all land they own in a village. Useful for understanding consolidated holdings.

Tatima

Your individual ownership certificate. Shows you as the sole owner of a Khasra number for that revenue year.
