Tamil Nadu Survey Number Map: Patta, Chitta & Adangal

Overview

In Tamil Nadu, a plot's survey number ties together your Patta, Chitta and Adangal on the state's e-Services (Land Records) portal. Zoom to your land on the map above and its survey-number boundary appears — you don't need to know the number to start.

Below: what the survey number is actually called in Tamil Nadu, which official portal to use for what, and how to find any plot's number by location.

One plot, many names — which one is the ‘survey number’?

Survey Number / Subdivision (சர்வே எண்)

The parcel ID; a subdivision number identifies a split of the survey number.

Patta (பட்டா)

The ownership / title record issued by the Tahsildar, keyed to the survey number.

Chitta (சிட்டா)

The land account — classification (wet/dry / nanjai-punjai), extent and pattadar.

Adangal / A-Register (அடங்கல்)

The holdings register listing land by survey number.

FMB (Field Measurement Book)

The boundary sketch for a survey number.

e-Services vs TNREGINET

e-Services = revenue records (Patta, Chitta, survey number). TNREGINET = registration and the Encumbrance Certificate. Don't confuse them.

Which record, which portal — for what

Different tasks need different records and portals. Here is the map.

TNREGINET: tnreginet.gov.in

Don't confuse the two portals: TN e-Services gives revenue records (Patta, Chitta, survey number); TNREGINET gives the Encumbrance Certificate and registration history. A Patta is not the same as an EC.

The one thing the government portal can't do

TN e-Services asks for the survey number, owner name or account before it shows you anything. 1acre works the other way round: start from the land. Search a village or drop a pin on the plot and the survey-number boundary appears on the map. Then take that number to the official portal for the certified record. Map-first is the search a land buyer actually needs — and no state portal offers it.
