What is the difference between khasra and khatauni?

The khasra is the plot number — a unique identifier for each field. The khatauni is the record of rights that lists all owners, tenants, and shares for that plot. The khasra appears in the khatauni so they work together.

Can I find land records by searching the owner's name?

Yes. On UP Bhulekh, select your district and tehsil, then enter the owner's name. The system will show all khatauni records and khasra numbers linked to that name.

Are online records from UP Bhulekh legally valid?

Online records are reference documents only. For legal transactions (sale, loan, court cases), you must obtain a certified copy (satyapit nakal) from the tehsil office. Online copies cannot be used alone for registration.

Khasra (खसरा)

The plot number assigned to each parcel of land in the UP revenue system. It is permanent and used to identify property on official records.

Khatauni (खतौनी)

The record of rights and cultivating possession. It lists the owners, tenants, and shares of each plot. The khasra appears here alongside ownership details.

Jamabandi (जमाबंदी)

A revenue settlement record that confirms landholding and ownership. It is issued by the tehsil and is required for most legal transactions.

Bhu Naksha (भू नक्शा)

The land map prepared by the Revenue Department. It shows plot boundaries, khasra numbers, and area in gaj or acres.
