Frequently Asked Questions

What is the stamp duty in Goa in 2026?

Goa uses a 5-tier slab: 3.5% (≤₹50 Lakh), 4% (₹50–75 Lakh), 4.5% (₹75 Lakh – ₹1 Crore), 5% (₹1–5 Crore), 6% (>₹5 Crore). Registration fee is a flat 0.5% with no cap — among the lowest in India. No gender-based concession. No transfer duty. E-stamping is mandatory from April 2025.

Do women get a stamp duty concession in Goa?

No. Goa applies the same slab rates to all buyer types (male, female, joint, company). The 5-tier slab is determined by property value, not buyer category.

Why doesn't this calculator show a Konkani column?

Konkani in Goa uses both Devanagari and Roman scripts officially, and the Government of Goa publishes revenue notifications in English. There is no authoritative Konkani-language glossary for stamp-duty terminology that we could cite. To avoid surfacing inaccurate translations, we've omitted the regional-language column for Goa. Hindi terms (which are largely cognate with Konkani Devanagari for legal vocabulary) are included on other state pages where applicable.

Are Goa stamp duty and registration charges tax-deductible?

Yes. Under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act, 1961, stamp duty and registration charges paid on a self-occupied residential property can be claimed as a deduction up to an overall 80C cap of ₹1.5 lakh in a financial year, subject to conditions.
