The share determination is the part that changes lives. UP's old accounts routinely listed a dozen heirs over an undivided holding, everyone an owner of everything and no one of anything in particular, and every sale from such an account was a negotiation with ambiguity. The live record states each holder's fraction as a determined fact, which converts the classic UP question, what exactly does the seller own, from an argument into a lookup.
The liveness matters almost as much. An account that updates as orders land closes the gap in which stale copies circulated, the gap where a plot could be sold on last year's truth, and it makes undone successions and pending changes visible rather than discoverable.
