Question 1

How do I find the khasra or survey number in Haryana?

Accepted Answer

Go to Jamabandi portal (jamabandi.nic.in) and search by district, block, and village. You can search by khasra number, owner name, or land area. The portal accepts 'Khasra or Survey Number' in the search field. The 1acre map will make this even easier when it launches.

Question 2

What is the difference between jamabandi and khewat?

Accepted Answer

The jamabandi is the record of rights showing full ownership and area of a plot. The khewat shows how that ownership is divided among multiple owners or heirs. If a plot has one owner, only jamabandi applies. If there are co-owners, khewat clarifies each person's share.

Question 3

Can I search for land records by the owner's name?

Accepted Answer

Yes. On the Jamabandi portal, you can search by owner name (without knowing the khasra). The system will return all jamabandi and khewat records linked to that person in the selected district and village.

Question 4

Are online jamabandi records from the portal legally valid?

Accepted Answer

Online records are reference documents. For registration, bank loans, or legal proof, you must obtain a certified copy (nakal) from the lekhapal or revenue office. Online downloads cannot replace an official certified copy.
