Question 1

What is the Raipur-Dhanbad Economic Corridor and how does Pathalgaon fit into it?

Accepted Answer

It is a 627-kilometre national corridor connecting Raipur to Dhanbad through Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. Pathalgaon anchors one of its most active construction stretches, linking toward Kunkuri and the Jharkhand border.

Question 2

Is Jashpur district covered under Chhattisgarh's tribal land protection law?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Jashpur carries a substantial Scheduled Tribe population, and Section 170-B of the Chhattisgarh Land Revenue Code applies to any land there that was ever recorded under a tribal owner's name.

Question 3

Which towns does the Pathalgaon-Gumla stretch actually connect?

Accepted Answer

The corridor runs through Pathalgaon, Kansabel, Kunkuri, and Duldula in Chhattisgarh, crosses into Jharkhand near the state border, and continues to Gumla and Bharda on National Highway 43.

Question 4

Is there a rail project planned alongside this road corridor?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A proposed 240-kilometre line from Dharamjaigarh through Pathalgaon to Lohardaga follows a similar path, though it remains at an earlier planning stage than the road, which is already under active construction.

Question 5

How do I check land records on the Jharkhand side near Gumla?

Accepted Answer

Use JharBhoomi at jharbhoomi.jharkhand.gov.in to view the Khata and Register-II for a plot, checking specifically whether the land carries a tribal classification under the Chotanagpur Tenancy Act.

Question 6

What does Section 170-B mean for land near Jashpur?

Accepted Answer

It requires Sub-Divisional Officer approval before any tribal-owned land is sold to a non-tribal buyer. A sale made without that approval is legally void, regardless of how the paperwork was registered at the time.

Question 7

Has construction on this corridor actually started, or is it still planned?

Accepted Answer

Construction has genuinely started. NHAI began on-ground work on the Pathalgaon-Kunkuri-to-border section in 2024, at a cost of 3,147 crore rupees, making this one of the more advanced stretches in the wider corridor.

Question 8

What is NH-43 and how does it relate to this expressway?

Accepted Answer

NH-43 is the specific national highway designation for the Pathalgaon-Kunkuri-Gumla-Bharda section, built as part of the larger Raipur-Dhanbad Economic Corridor connecting Chhattisgarh's industrial belt to Jharkhand.
