Question 1

Is the Thiruvananthapuram Angamaly Greenfield Highway still going ahead?

Accepted Answer

No, not currently. In February 2025, the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways told Parliament that the project has been halted, and NHAI has stopped further procedures. A DPR exists on record, but no active tender or construction timeline is in place.

Question 2

What was the planned Pulimath to Angamaly alignment length and design?

Accepted Answer

The alignment was 257 km, six-lane access-controlled greenfield, running with a 45-metre right of way from Pulimath in Chirayinkeezhu taluk to Angamaly in Ernakulam. It was designed to run parallel to Main Central Road (SH-1) on the eastern side.

Question 3

Which districts does the Bharatmala Pariyojana Kerala corridor cross?

Accepted Answer

The alignment passes through six districts: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam, across 13 named taluks including Kottarakkara, Punalur, Konni, Ranni, Kanjirappally, Meenachil, Thodupuzha, Muvattupuzha, Kothamangalam, and Kunnathunad.

Question 4

Has NHAI collected land compensation on the notified alignment?

Accepted Answer

Yes, NHAI had initially collected acquisition-related deposits, but funds could only be released after project clearance. When Gadkari confirmed the halt, the compensation and acquisition process were suspended, leaving affected landholders in an unresolved position.

Question 5

Can paddy land near the corridor be sold as a plot under the Kerala Paddy Land Wetland Act Data Bank?

Accepted Answer

No, not directly. If the parcel is listed as nilam in the Land Data Bank, it cannot be sold as buildable. Conversion under Section 27A Form 6 conversion or the KLU Order route requires prior Revenue Divisional Officer sanction.

Question 6

Is any Vision 2047 alternative corridor confirmed to replace the halted project?

Accepted Answer

No. A high-speed corridor was mentioned under the Centre's Vision 2047 initiative as a possible alternative, but no alignment, DPR, or notification has been issued. Any broker citing a Vision 2047 replacement route is speculating.

Question 7

What documents must I check before buying land near the notified alignment?

Accepted Answer

The current Bhulekh Kerala RoR, Land Data Bank status, BTR at the Village Office, and a fresh No Objection Certificate from the local NHAI Project Implementation Unit confirming the survey number is no longer under active 3(A) notification.

Question 8

Where does the Thiruvananthapuram Angamaly Greenfield Highway start and end?

Accepted Answer

The 257 km alignment was designed to run from Pulimath near Kilimanoor to Angamaly in Ernakulam, sitting on the eastern side of Main Central Road (SH-1) through 13 taluks across six districts. Treat it as a proposed alignment only, since the Ministry confirmed in Parliament that the project stands halted.
