Question 1

Why did Shamli district restrict land transactions along the proposed alignment?

Accepted Answer

Once the Detailed Project Report was finalised, the administration appointed a Special Land Acquisition Officer and moved to restrict sales along the route, a standard step to prevent speculative subdivision or price inflation before formal acquisition.

Question 2

Is the Shamli-Gorakhpur Expressway the same project as the Gorakhpur-Panipat Expressway?

Accepted Answer

They are closely related. Reporting shows the project initially planned as Gorakhpur-Shamli was later extended toward Panipat in Haryana to tap into that region's industrial base, so both names describe overlapping stages of the same corridor concept.

Question 3

How much will travel time between Shamli and Gorakhpur actually improve?

Accepted Answer

Current reporting projects the journey dropping from around 12 hours to somewhere between six and seven and a half hours, though the exact figure depends on final alignment, interchanges, and speed limits once construction is complete.

Question 4

Has construction on this expressway actually started yet?

Accepted Answer

Not broadly. As of September 2026, NHAI had floated four new tenders with November 2026 bid deadlines, meaning contracts still need evaluation and award before construction meaningfully begins on those specific packages.

Question 5

Which existing expressways does this corridor connect to at its western end?

Accepted Answer

Phase 1 begins at the junction of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway and the Ambala-Shamli Expressway near Shamli, giving Delhi-NCR traffic a direct route onto this corridor without passing through Meerut or Ghaziabad.

Question 6

What is the difference between Bhulekh UP and Bhu Naksha UP?

Accepted Answer

Bhulekh UP provides text records, ownership, khasra details, and khatauni. Bhu Naksha UP provides the cadastral map showing plot boundaries and shape. A complete check requires looking at both.

Question 7

Which 22 districts does this corridor pass through?

Accepted Answer

Reported districts include Shamli, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, and Amroha in the west, extending through central UP toward Bahraich, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, and Gorakhpur in the east.

Question 8

Is a free Bhulekh UP printout valid for a property registration?

Accepted Answer

No. The portal explicitly states its records are for informational purposes. Legal matters, bank loans, and registration require a certified copy obtained directly from the local Tehsildar's office.
