Maharashtra Survey Number Map: 7/12 Satbara, Gat Number & Mahabhulekh

Overview

In Maharashtra, a plot's survey number — and, after land consolidation, its Gat Number — is recorded in the plot's 7/12 (Satbara) extract on the Mahabhulekh portal. Zoom to your land on the map above and its boundary appears — you don't need to know the number to start.

Below: what the survey number is called in Maharashtra, which record it sits in, which official portal to use for what, and how to find any plot's number by location.

One plot, many names — which one is the ‘survey number’?

Survey Number / Gat Number (सर्वे नंबर · गट क्रमांक)

The parcel ID. Older records use the Survey Number; consolidated land uses the Gat Number for the same parcel.

7/12 Utara (सातबारा)

The Record of Rights extract — survey/gat number, area, owner, crop and loan charges. Maharashtra's core land record.

8A

The holding (khata) extract, usually read alongside the 7/12.

Mahabhulekh

The government portal that issues the 7/12 and 8A.

Digital Satbara

The legally-valid, digitally-signed 7/12 (the free view copy is unsigned).

Bhu Naksha

The cadastral map showing the survey/gat-number boundary.

Mahabhulekh

Gat Number is the modern survey-number unit after land consolidation; older documents may still cite the Survey Number for the same plot. The free Mahabhulekh 7/12 is unsigned — use Digital Satbara for a legally valid copy.

The one thing the government portal can't do

Mahabhulekh asks for the survey number, owner name or account before it shows you anything. 1acre works the other way round: start from the land. Search a village or drop a pin on the plot and the survey-number boundary appears on the map. Then take that number to the official portal for the certified record. Map-first is the search a land buyer actually needs — and no state portal offers it.
